Next: Cemetery Cleanup is Saturday, March 23 2024 from 9am-noon.

St. Andrew’s cemetery is located behind St. Andrew’s Anglican Church and is one of the oldest active cemeteries on Vancouver Island.

Cliffe, Dingwall, Harmston, Piercy and Willemar are a few of the names you’ll recognize while wandering the peaceful serenity of the cemetery grounds. Many street names in Courtenay are dedicated to the first settlers of the Comox Valley because of their historical contribution.

Besides the early pioneers, many military veterens (including six Common Wealth War Commission graves) who lost their lives fighting in the First and Second World Wars are buried in St. Andrew's.

Another feature adding to the cemetery's charm is its natural setting, which includes an abundance of garry oaks - an endangered and protected tree on Vancouver Island.
