Sunday we had about 30 present for worship after 40 had reserved seats, so it is important to please let the office know if you cannot keep your intended attendance, in order that those on a waiting list can be accommodated. For every week, remember to contact the church office (250-334-4331 or admin@sjtdcourtenay.ca) by noon on Friday if you wish to reserve a seat for Sunday.

On Thursday, September17, your Parish Council met to review the business of the parish, financial statements and reports from the parish leadership. We also considered some design concepts for alterations to parts of our building and approved next steps for detailed floor plans and approaches to contractors. The first phase is to repurpose the space in the small hall to add an additional office, with a new corridor from the church to the main hall, and moving the water supply and sink into the sacristy. The second phase is to create a new staircase to the organ loft from the narthex and to add a washroom in back corner where the existing staircase is. The third phase is put off for future consideration, pending our Transforming Futures work and visioning for ministry in the community. We will provide further details and diagrams in the coming weeks.

This Saturday, September 26, 2020 is the Electoral Synod which will determine our next Bishop. Proceedings will begin with a Eucharist service at 9:00 a.m. at All Saints Cathedral in Victoria, with our Archbishop, The Most. Rev. Melissa Skelton presiding and preaching. This service can be watched live on the diocesan website https://bc.anglican.ca and I encourage your participation in that. Please keep the 7 candidates and all of the synod delegates in your prayers this week.

With every blessing,
