 SJTD Sunday Quote:

“Jesus sends them out in pairs, without purse or script, and tells them to live at the mercy of those they meet. It’s a mission shaped not by power, but by presence. It is not what they carry in their hands but what they carry in their hearts that matters.”

- Barbara Brown Taylor

HAS YOUR HOME FIRE EXTINGUISHER BEEN TESTED?

HAS YOUR HOME FIRE EXTINGUISHER BEEN TESTED?

WITHIN THE LAST 6 YEARS?

Bring your extinguisher to the church on or before Sunday July 6. Kathy (or Marci) will tag it with your name and confirm you are willing to pay applicable costs. And let us know if you would like a new tank if yours cannot be refilled. Kathy will collect, deliver, pay upfront and return the tanks as soon as possible.

Inspection $10
Refill/charge $35 (for 5lb tank)
Disposal $10
New Tank $67 (for 5lb size)

Comox Valley Fire Safety recommends an extinguisher on every floor (best locations are kitchen and garage). The 5lb size tank is appropriate for kitchen and will spray +/- 20 seconds. CV Fire Safety does not sell fire blankets. They acknowledge they may be easy to use but note the user must get CLOSER to the fire and in the case of a grease fire in the kitchen, there is a potential for the flaming pan to be knocked over spreading the fire onto other surfaces or clothing. Canadian Tire and Home Depot do sell fire blankets for $20 and, up depending on the size. CT and HD also sell extinguishers of various sizes. For example, HD sells Kidde 5lb size for $76.
