A Day of HEARTFELT DISCERNMENT

Divider
Bishop Anna has been asking many parishes and church programs to go through a discernment process. When we met with her in August she asked that the Cursillo movement do this, also.  The Secretariat has already spent an afternoon praying and discussing, and now we are asking the wider Cursillo community for their input and involvement.
Event
Please prayerfully ask for God's guidance and make notes as you consider the following questions:
1. Where is Cursillo now?
Event photo 1
2. What is God pointing us (Cursillo) to do?
Event photo 2
3. What does the future of Cursillo look like?
Event photo 3
4. What can you personally contribute to the conversation?
Event photo 3
5. Share one or more stories about Cursillo, either from your original weekend, or on a weekend you worked on the team.  What impacted you?

I Love to Tell the Story? Faith Sharing Workshop

I Love to Tell the Story? Faith Sharing Workshop

With Rev. Dr. Ross Lockhart | November 29, 9:30am-12:30pm

NOTE: This event is held at St. George’s United Church

As Christians we are part of God’s wonderful story of reconciling love in Jesus Christ.  God’s love story with humanity that we read about in Scripture is meant to be shared with all.  Yet, so often as Christians we struggle to find the words to express our faith in an increasingly secular and pluralistic world. Do you struggle to tell the old, old story of Jesus and his love?  You are not alone and there is a hopeful way forward! Join Rev. Dr. Ross Lockhart for a fun and interactive workshop as we deepen our ability to speak the faith and cheerfully share the gospel story.

This event is free, but we will be taking up a free will offering to help cover expenses.

John Albert Hall Lecture

Understanding and Valuing Occasional Religious Practice - Thursday, November 13, 2025

The next John Albert Hall Lecture will take place on November 13, 5:30pm to 6:45pm, in the David Strong Building on the University of Victoria Campus.

Speaker: Sarah Kathleen Johnson

Understanding and Valuing Occasional Religious Practice

The pews overflow on Christmas Eve and Easter Sunday. A mother reaches out to a local church for the first time to request the baptism of her newborn. The death of a public figure is marked with an extravagant funeral at a cathedral. These are all examples of what Sarah Kathleen Johnson (Assistant Professor of Liturgy and Pastoral Theology at Saint Paul University in Ottawa) calls occasional religious practice and explores as a primary way that people continue to relate to Christianity in increasingly nonreligious and religiously diverse contexts.

This event is available online via Zoom. To watch this event via Zoom, please visit: uvic.ca/csrs/events and register with CSRC to received the Zoom link.
