Donations received by July 17 will be matched 1:1

Conflict, climate change and COVID-19 have combined to create a deadly situation in Sub-Saharan Africa. Families in 23 countries are facing starvation as drought and the war in Ukraine disrupt food supply.

The Government of Canada has allocated $250 million toward hunger relief in countries where the situation is most dire. As well, the government will match all donations made by individuals to the Humanitarian Coalition's Appeal to End Hunger by July 17, up to a total of $5 million.

What is the Humanitarian Coalition?

The Humanitarian Coalition is an organization of 12 Canadian relief and development agencies, including the Canadian Foodgrains Bank. Through its membership in the Foodgrains Bank, PWRDF is able to participate in Humanitarian Coalition appeals. We have done so twice before, when the government announces a matching fund to encourage donations.
