A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another as I have loved you. John 13.34

Processional Hymn: #330 O Praise Ye the Lord

O praise ye the Lord! Praise him in the height
Rejoice in his word, ye angels of light
Ye heavens adore him by whom ye were made
And worship before him, in brightness arrayed

O praise ye the Lord! Praise him upon earth
In tuneful accord, ye sons of new birth
Praise him who has brought you his grace from above
praise him who has taught you to sing of his love

O praise ye the Lord, all things that give sound
Each jubilant chord, re-echo around
Loud organs, his glory forth tell in deep tone
And sweet harp, the story of what he hath done

O praise ye the Lord! Thanksgiving and song
To him be outpoured all ages along
For love in creation, for heaven restored
For grace of salvation, O praise ye the Lord!

Outreach Sharing Time (The Rev. Marion Edmondson)

Call to Worship
Sing praises to God, you faithful, give thanks to God’s holy name!
Weeping may linger for a night, but joy comes in the morning.
God turns our weeping to dancing and clothes us in gladness.
May we praise God & not be silent! Thanks to you O God, forever! Amen

Prayer of Approach
All praise to you, God most holy. O mystery of mercy, O surprise of love. All was falling and loss. All was lost and death. Jesus our hope was murdered. All was buried and gone. But, O God, in wild abandon, in foolish wisdom, you raised Christ our hope from death to life. In Christ’s rebirth, you shouted pardon. A new creation. To all the world and to us new worth is given. O God of mystery, O surprise of love.  Amen. (Seasons of the Spirit)

(We prepare our hearts for worship in silence)

The Gathering of the Community (Service begins on p. 185)

Glory to God p. 186

Collect Almighty God, your Son Jesus Christ is the way, the truth, and the life. Give us grace to love one another and walk in the way of his commandments, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever.  Amen

The Proclamation of the Word (Led by Jessie Scott)
First Reading:     Acts 11: 1-18
Psalm                     148         Refrain: Alleluia!
The Epistle:        Revelations 21: 1-6

Gospel Hymn: 484.  In Christ There is no East or West

In Christ there is no east or west,
in Christ no south or north,
but one great fellowship of love
throughout the whole wide earth.

In Christ shall true hearts ev’rywhere
their high communion find.
whose service is the golden cord
close-binding humankind.

Join hands, disciples of the faith,
whate’er your race may be;
who serves my god in truth and love
is surely kin to me.

In Christ now meet both east and west,
in Christ meet south and north.
All faithful souls are joined as one
throughout the whole wide earth.

Offertory Hymn: #430  Will You Come and Follow Me

Will you come and follow me
if I but call your name?
Will you go where you don't know
and never be the same?
Will you let my love be shown?
Will you let my name be known,
will you let my life be grown
in you and you in me?

Will you leave yourself behind
if I but call your name?
Will you care for cruel and kind
and never be the same?
Will you risk the hostile stare
should your life attract or scare?
Will you let me answer prayer
in you and you in me?

Will you let the blinded see
if I but call your name?
Will you set the prisoners free
and never be the same?
Will you kiss the leper clean
and do such as this unseen,
and admit to what I mean
in you and you in me?

Will you love the "you" you hide
if I but call your name?
Will you quell the fear inside
and never be the same?
Will you use the faith you've found
 to reshape the world around,
through my sight and touch and sound
in you and you in me?

Lord your summons echoes true
when you but call my name.
Let me turn and follow you
and never be the same.
In Your company I'll go
where Your love and footsteps show.
Thus I'll move and live and grow
in you and you in me.

Prayer over the Gifts Gracious God, you show us your way and give us your divine life. May everything we do be directed by the knowledge of your truth. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ the risen Lord. Amen

we are one body in this one Lord.

Gentile or Jew, servant or free,
woman or man, no more.
Refrain

Many the gifts, many the works,
one in the Lord of all.
Refrain

Grain for the fields, scattered and grown,
gathered to one for all.

Praise him all creatures here below! Praise him above ye heavenly hosts! Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost! Amen

The Blessing

Closing Hymn:  #278   Jerusalem the Golden

Jerusalem the golden,
with milk and honey blessed,
beneath thy contemplation
sink heart and voice oppressed.
I know not, O I know not,
what joys await us there;
what radiancy of glory,
what bliss beyond compare.

They stand, those halls of Sion,
all jubilant with song,
and bright with many an angel,
and all the martyr throng.
The Prince is ever in them,
the daylight is serene;
the pastures of the blessed
are decked in glorious sheen.

There is the throne of David;
and there, from care released,
the song of them that triumph,
the shout of them that feast;
and they who with their Leader
have conquered in the fight,
forever and forever
are clad in robes of white.

O sweet and blessed country,
the home of God's elect!
O dear and future vision,
that eager hearts expect!
even now by faith we see thee,
even here thy walls discern;
to thee our thoughts are kindled;
for thee our spirits yearn..
