Processional Hymn

Hymn #181  All Glory, Laud, and Honour  (Blue Book)

Refrain
All glory, laud, and honour
to thee, Redeemer, King,
to whom the lips of children
made sweet hosannas ring.

Thou art the King of Israel
thou David's royal Son,
who in the Lord's name comest,
the King and Blessed One. R

The company of angels
are praising thee on high;
and we with all creation
in chorus make reply. R

The people of the Hebrews
with palms before thee went;
our praise and prayer and anthems
before you we present. R

To thee before thy passion
they sang their hymns of praise;
to thee now high exalted,
our melody we raise. R

Thou didst accept their praises,
accept the prayers we bring,
who in all good delightest,
thou good and gracious King. R

Collect for Palm Sunday

Almighty and everliving God, in tender love for all our human race you sent your Son our Saviour Jesus Christ to take our flesh and suffer death upon a cruel cross. May we follow the example of his great humility, and share in the glory of his resurrection; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen

Hymn # 235 Myrrh-Bearing Mary

Mary bearing myrrh, sweetly scented myrrh,
Mary bearing myrrh, to Bethany she came.
Mary bearing myrrh, sweetly scented myrrh
for Jesus, and He called her by her name.

Refrain
"Mary," He said, "they will remember you well."
"Mary," he said, "you will live on."
"Mary," He said, "when the Good News is proclaimed,
your loving deeds of service will live on."

Mary bearing myrrh, costly scented myrrh,
Mary bearing myrrh to freely give away.
Mary bearing myrrh, costly scented myrrh
for Jesus, and He marked it well that day.  Refrain

Mary bearing myrrh, precious scented myrrh,
Mary bearing myrrh to serve him as she could.
Mary bearing myrrh, precious scented myrrh
for Jesus, and He clearly understood.  Refrain

   The Homily and Invitation to Anointment

Bishop Anna

Chant during Anointment – Hymn #90 Don’t Be Afraid

Don’t be afraid.
My love is stronger, my love is stronger than your fear.
Don’t be afraid.
My love is stronger and I have promised,
Promised to be always near.

Offertory Hymn # 184 My Song is Love Unknown (Blue Book)

My song is love unknown,
my Savior’s love to me;
love to the loveless shown,
that they might lovely be.
o who am i,
that for my sake
my Lord should take
frail flesh, and die?

He came from his blest throne
salvation to bestow;
but all made strange, and none
the longed-for Christ would know:
but oh, my friend,
my friend indeed,
who at my need
his life did spend.

Sometimes they strew his way,
and his sweet praises sing;
resounding all the day
hosannas to their King:
then “Crucify!”
is all their breath,
and for his death
they thirst and cry.

Why, what has my Lord done?
What makes this rage and spite?
He made the lame to run,
he gave the bind their sight.
Sweet injuries!
Yet they at these
themselves displease,
and 'gainst him rise.

They rise and needs will have
my dear Lord made away;
a murderer they save,
the Prince of life they slay.
yet cheerful he
to suffering goes,
that he his foes
from thence might free.

Here might I stay and sing,
no story so divine;
never was love, dear King,
never was grief like thine.
this is my friend,
in whose sweet praise
I all my days
could gladly spend.

Hymn #372 Praise to the Holiest in the Height

Praise to the Holiest in the height,
and in the depth be praise:
in all his words most wonderful,
most sure in all his ways.

O loving wisdom of our God!
When all was sin and shame,
a second Adam to the fight
and to the rescue came.

O generous love! that flesh and blood,
which did in Adam fail,
should strive afresh against the foe,
should strive and should prevail;

And that a highest gift of grace
should flesh and blood refine,
God's presence and his very self,
and essence all-divine.

Who in the garden secretly,
and on the cross on high,
should teach his brethren, and inspire
to suffer and to die.

Praise to the Holiest in the height,
and in the depth be praise:
in all his words most wonderful,
most sure in all his ways.
